Graeme Marchbank joined the British Swimming Board in 2018 as the nominated representative of Scottish Swimming. Graeme took over the role Scottish Swimming's Chairperson in September 2018 following three years as a non-executive director on the board.
In that time, Graeme played a pro-active role in influencing and shaping the strategic direction of the company, providing leadership support on the organisation’s marketing strategy and contributing as a member of the audit and risk committee.
Graeme currently leads global brand partnerships at Diageo Plc where he has held a number of senior positions since 2004, notably in their sport and event sponsorships for four years and as Director of Corporate Sponsorship for eight years. This experience allows Graeme to provide insight into the world of sports marketing and associated supporting areas to the board. With Diageo, Graeme led the delivery of the Johnnie Walker Championship golf event at Gleneagles Hotel for 13 years as part of The PGA European Tour.
Graeme’s sporting experience includes his role as Director of Golf at The Gleneagles Hotel for five years and he was an active non-executive board member of Sport Scotland from 2007 to 2015 which included tenure on the audit committee, the ethics committee and the Trust Company Board.
On a more personal level, Graeme has direct experience of the swimming community and environment through his children’s swimming achievements, as a former club committee member and as a qualified Technical Official. He has a real passion for swimming which he believes has significant breadth and depth as a sport when measured across criteria such as international success, intergenerational connection, life skills, health, personal safety, public profile and media coverage.
