The British Gas Diving Championships are set to take place this week at the Plymouth Life Centre from 20 – 22 Feb with the country’s best athletes travelling to the city to battle for honours.

The biggest domestic competition of the year will see Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley return to his home town to take his first steps to qualifying for the World Championships this summer.

Local 10m divers Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch will team up in the 10m synchro and then go head-to-head in the individual event. After winning gold at the European Championships last summer, Barrow will be eager to continue her good form and secure her place for Kazan.

The 3m Springboard will see double Commonwealth Champion Jack Laugher back in action as he aims to continue to make his impact on the world stage having won bronze at the World Cup in 2014.

Commonwealth champions Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree will team up again in the 3m Synchro as they aim to take back their title.

Councillor Peter Smith, Deputy Leader of Plymouth City Council, said: “We’re really pleased to be hosting the championships again this year and welcoming the UK’s top divers to Plymouth. It will be great to see Tom back in his home city and we’re looking forward to what promises to be an exciting competition and an impressive display of British diving talent.”
